2013 MLB Betting: Cardinals And Athletics Highlight Saturday

2013 Baseball Free PicksThe St. Louis Cardinals struggled with one American League West Division team, the Texas Rangers, last weekend. Will they similarly struggle against Oakland this weekend?

Game 1: St. Louis Cardinals @ Oakland Athletics – Saturday, June 29

When making your next play at any of the premier sports betting sites on the market, it is prudent to realize that while St. Louis did indeed struggle with Texas last weekend, the Cardinals have their ace on the hill – and in the hole – in this contest. Adam Wainwright has been magnificent for the Redbirds in 2013, bouncing back so much better than many expected after injuries plagued him in 2012. Wainwright’s command of his pitches, especially his breaking stuff, make him a hard pitcher to figure out. Oakland will be confident entering this contest, but Wainwright should be up to the challenge and ready to fend off the Athletics in what should be a terrific ballgame in California. Oakland starter Jarrod Parker is good, and he’ll keep Oakland close, but Wainwright performs at a generally higher level. Take the Cardinals in this one.

Baseball free picksDuring MLB spring training, the online sports betting experts all had their picks for which teams would be on top of their respective divisions. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals were early favorites to meet in the NLCS in October. But, as we have seen so far, the games are not played on paper and the actual results are varying significantly from what was expected.

As the All-Star break approaches, some of the sports betting services are starting to re-think their spring training predictions. It is starting to look like some teams are not quite up to the task of being contenders, while other teams are reveling in the spotlight that comes with playing winning baseball.

Friday – Arizona Diamondbacks @ Atlanta Braves

There were not many sports book experts who would have expected a game in late June between the Diamondbacks and the Braves to be a battle between two division leaders.

Reyes Recovery Vital for Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays are to recoup any ground in the AL East this seasonIf the Toronto Blue Jays are to recoup any ground in the AL East this season, they need shortstop Jose Reyes back in the infield, an event that took one-step closer to reality after the 30-year-old began rehab from injury this week.

Reyes has been out of action since 12 April when he injured his ankle sliding for second base against Kansas City. The twist looked painful at the time and many MLB betting news outlets expected him to be out for a while, Reyes immediately heading to the 60-day DL.

Thankfully, his recovery has begun sooner than expected and, after a stint of simulation games, Reyes will be sent to the minors to build his match sharpness. The shortstop told The Globe and Mail that, although he is on a 14-game rehab assignment, a return to the majors could come sooner:

“Who knows – five, six, two [games], it depends how I’m feeling,” he said optimistically. “When I start to feel like my swing is good enough to come up, I’ll come up.”
