It has been fun watching the AL this season. The betting world has been pleasantly surprised at the season-long performances of the Texas Rangers and the Minnesota Twins. At this late point in the season, both teams sit on top of their respective divisions and it does not look like anyone is going to catch them.
In the AL Central, the Minnesota Twins have been able to make sports fans in the Twin Cities forget about NFL betting and NCAA football betting just for a little while. The Chicago White Sox looked to be challenging the Twins for a while there, but with six losses in their last 10 games the White Sox have fallen to three and half games back of the Twins.
The AL West has not been much of a contest all season long. The only competition the Texas Rangers have had to worry about has been the Oakland A’s. After a strong start, the A’s have drifted to eight and half games back of the Rangers. With the A’s playing .500 ball in their last 10 games, they give themselves no chance to catch the surging Texas Rangers.

Those who bet on NCAA football will be watching come November, when rivals are usually battling for bragging rights, or a conference title, or both. This is the case in the American League Central, where Minnesota and Chicago have been going at each other for last couple of months, and the two will conclude their three-game set in Minnesota on Thursday.
White Sox Twins Betting – Thursday, August 19, 8:10 PM ET
Mark Buehrle (11-9, 4.05) did just enough to get a win as the White Sox doubled Detroit 8-4 at home in his last start, allowing three runs on five hits over 6.1 innings, striking out three and walking two. He gave up a homer for the third time in four starts, but Buehrle has been doing a great job of minimizing the damage as of late. The 31-year-old has already lost to Minnesota in 2009, and in 45 outings in his career, including 43 starts, he is 24-17 against them with a 4.08 ERA. The crafty southpaw has even been decent at the Metrodome, going 10-9 in 22 games (20 starts with an ERA of 4.67.

MLB Betting – Cubs Look To Embrace Spoiler Role against Giants |

NCAA football betting players are well aware of the spoiler role as lowly teams may try to mess up a higher-ranked team’s bowl chances late in the season, and that would be the Chicago Cubs on Thursday afternoon in the final of a four-game set, as they visit San Francisco trying to put a wrench in the Giants’ playoff plans.
Cubs Giants Betting – Thursday, August 12, 3:45 PM ET
Randy Wells (5-10, 4.37) lost his third straight start in a 4-3 loss at home to Cincinnati, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. He was also taken deep for the third start in a row and fifth in his last 10 starts. NFL football betting players may compare Wells to Derek Anderson, who had one great season in Cleveland, but it was quickly discovered that he wasn’t a starting NFL quarterback, and we don’t think Wells is a legitimate MLB starter. The 27-year-old lost his lone meeting against the Giants, allowing five runs on 10 hits over 5.1 innings of a 5-1 loss in San Francisco last season.

MLB Game Preview for August 5, 2010: Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers |

The betting world knows that if the Detroit Tigers want to revive their chances at the AL Central pennant, they need to start by winning in this series with the White Sox. While the cities of Detroit and Chicago start to look towards NFL betting, their baseball teams are locked in one of the best pennant chases in the major leagues.
Right now the Chicago White Sox lead the Minnesota Twins by a game and a half and the Detroit Tigers by seven games in the AL Central. If you were betting on college football, you may bet against a team in the Tigers’ situation. They trail the division leader by seven games, and the Tigers have only won three of their last 10 games. But the Tigers are capable of playing good baseball, and if they can start to pull themselves together now then they can make a run for the pennant. The Tigers have more of a chance of catching the White Sox for the AL Central pennant than they do in catching the Yankees for the AL wild card.
The White Sox have won seven of their last 10 games, and they are in a fierce battle with the Minnesota Twins for the AL Central pennant. The Twins have won eight of their last 10 games, and they continue to put the pressure on the Sox.
