Dodgers pitching duo looking good heading into new season

Written by Andrew Scofield

The Los Angeles Dodgers breathed a sigh of relief as their two best starting pitchers ended their preseason campaigns in promising form and without any injury issues, giving fans confidence that this rotation could have what it takes to be as strong as it was in 2014. Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke are both coming off incredible seasons in which they were crucial to the Dodgers success, and the duo are set to be as integral to the franchise's hopes in 2015, currently priced at 7/2 with Betfair to top the National League.

Reigning National League Cy Young and MVP award winner Kershaw is heading into the new season fresh from a solid three-inning showing against the Kansas City Royals, in which he allowed one run on a couple of hits with two walks and two strikeouts. This time last year, Kershaw was firing a remarkable 9.20 ERA in spring training only to struggle with a back injury during the early stages of the season. It's been a different story this spring, though, with Kershaw recording a 1.61 ERA during preseason and looking like the pitcher he was during a sensational 2014.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals

Written by Gaby Varji

Atlanta Braves at Washington NationalThe Atlanta Braves are scratching their way for a last chance at competing for the National League East race. This week’s series haven’t been that great for the Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals, losing two more straight in their bad streak of 7 of the last 10 games. Not that the Nationals have been awesome, however good enough to maintain a steady lead of 9 games over Atlanta. The Braves are still looking to get their “out of jail free” card with only 1.5 games to go but that will take much more than just tossing the dice. Getting straight wins will require more than just a push. On the other hand, Washington just needs to keep business as usual and avoid any losing streaks to achieve that longed divisional title.

Atlanta is looking at boosting up this game plan with their starting pitcher Aaron Harang, who by the way is having a regular season, nothing extraordinary from this right hander (3.87 overall ERA and 4.17 road ERA). These numbers aside, he has been meeting his responsibilities as an “innings eater”. With a less than regular season, the Braves are looking to improve their stats with the series against Texas coming soon. They are not entirely out of the race seeing that they still stand a chance in the next three games at Washington Nationals, which all need to be won. Time will tell if they will be able to avoid any more bad news and get some positive numbers over the Nationals.

Strongest betting MLB Line-ups for 2014The new MLB season is nearly upon us and Spring Training is offering fans a glimpse of who will impress and who will flop come Opening Day.

With trades still being enacted and the free agency market bustling, it’s hard to know what your team’s line-up will be like this April. Well, here are the top three strongest offences to watch out for in the MLB:

1. Detroit Tigers
Having made the Championship game in two of their last three seasons, it is clear Detroit are ready to claim their first World Series in three decades. Manager Brad Ausmus has arguably the strongest offence at his disposal, with Miguel Cabrera and the young Nick Castellanos remaining the definitive sluggers in this line-up.

Granted, Castellanos is a new boy in a man’s game but Cabrera and Torri Hunter heading the top of their line, Detoit have the perfect balance of experience and youth.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates oddsAndrew McCutchen and the Pittsburgh Pirates walk the clouds after his first playoff victory in 21 years.

Now, after defeating the Cincinnati Reds in the wild card game, the Pirates face another familiar opponent in a month which would usually rental: the Cardinals, champions of the Central Division of the National League in October.

The first game of the division series is Thursday night in St. Louis.

The Cardinals outscored the Pirates in the fight for the division title, but Pittsburgh won the regular season series. St. Louis has vast advantage in playoff experience.

Adam Wainwright also has to be happy with this duel. The Ace of San Luis opens the opener and will have its usual rest for a possible fifth game, against a team we was 1-0 with 3.00 ERA in three meetings this season.
