The Nevada Wolf Pack and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will meet on December 24 at Aloha Stadium in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.
Larry Fedora may be leaving Southern Miss for North Carolina but he sure didn’t leave Conference USA any parting gifts.
In fact, the Eagles’ upset of previously unbeaten Houston cost the Cougars a BCS bowl berth and the conference a rare huge payday.
And while we do like the fact that Fedora is only one of two head men (Erickson being the other) – not including interim coaches (Withers, Fickell) – that will fi nish the job with their ‘former’ teams, we don’t like the idea that this is the Eagles first ever ‘let’s get lei’d vacation.’
Yes, Nevada is just 1-7 SU and ATS in their last eight visits to Aloha Stadium but veteran HC Chris Ault should have a huge advantage in terms of travel preparation.

Despite some tough losses handled by the Ohio State Buckeyes and Kentucky Wildcats, Perry Jones III and the No. 7 Baylor Bears haven’t been able to earn enough respect to climb in to the top-five just yet, although that could change over the next couple of weeks if they keep on playing as they have. The Bears opened their season with 10 straight wins, and will look to build on that momentum on Friday when they host an underrated opponent in the West Virginia Mountaineers as legitimate sports betting favorites.
West Virginia Mountaineers @ Baylor Bears (7) Friday December 23, 2011 – 9:00 PM ET American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas College Basketball Betting Line: Baylor Bears – 6.5
The Mountaineers may rank among the most underrated teams in the nation right now, particularly because they aren’t ranked at all.

Just for ‘kicks’, Boise State will be hitting Las Vegas for the second straight bowl season. Like last year, a missed field goal cost the Broncos a BCS payday and a maybe even a spot in the national championship game this season.
Arizona State hopes to give fired coach Dennis Erickson one final win.
It most definitely cost QB Kellen Moore a Heisman invite and that’s a shame as the senior tossed 41 TD’s this year while becoming the FBS career leader in wins with 49.
While we do think that Moore will end his tremendous college campaign with a 50-3 mark as a starter, the question becomes do the Broncos enter Sin City as a lounge act or do the stars come out to play and take out a couple of years of frustration against a mediocre opponent with a lame-duck coach?
