Those looking to bet on NCAA football this weekend shouldn’t expect a shootout on Saturday night, when North Carolina and LSU clash in a battle of hard-hitting defenses. The Tar Heels are still waiting to hear about a couple of their players, but they should still have enough to come away with the win in this top-25 matchup.
LSU North Carolina Betting – Saturday, September 4, 8:00 PM ET
The No.21 Tigers both overachieved and underachieved in 2009, finishing 9-4 with a loss to Penn State in the Capitol One Bowl with a team that wasn’t all that talented. But they probably threw away a couple of wins due to poor clock management, leaving fans wondering what might have been. The Tigers were 112th in the nation offensively, and a lot of that was the fault of quarterback Jordan Jefferson. But you can only blame the pivot so much when he spent most of the time running for his life as LSU was 105th in the country in sacks allowed. Running back Charles Scott also needs to be replaced. The defense was 26th in the country, but with four starters coming back, that could take a dip, especially in the tough SEC.

Alabama leads the Top 25 for 2010 and they are defending the national championship. The Crimson Tide return Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, quarterback Greg McElroy and just about everyone else from last year’s offense. They did suffer some defensive losses but head coach Nick Saban is a defensive guru and always finds ways to slow other teams down. Alabama has won 16 straight SEC regular college football betting season games going back to 2007. Alabama is the 4-1 favorite to win the national title but they play in the SEC which is the best conference in the country, so repeating will not be easy.
Here are the stats for the Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram.
• Averaging 178 yards per game vs. top-25 teams (VT, UM, USC, LSU) • Semifinalist for the Maxwell Award • Sixth Nationally in Rushing (127.56)

The betting world can feel it coming. That roar you hear coming from Indianapolis is Peyton Manning’s frustration in not feeling like his team is ready to re-claim their AFC title and make right in the Super Bowl this year. The Colts have looked downright pathetic in the preseason, and that includes when Manning is playing quarterback.
The NFL betting community knows better than that. Peyton Manning is not a preseason guy. But the poor play at many positions by key players in this preseason cannot be over looked. Offensive lineman Tony Ugoh is supposed to protect Manning’s blind side, but he has been inconsistent this preseason. Running back Joseph Addai has suffered a concussion that could force him to miss the opening week. The Colts just seem out of sync going in to the last preseason game of the season. That does not mean, however, that Manning will play very much if at all in this last preseason game.
The reason the Cincinnati Bengals picked up rogue wide receiver Terrell Owens become obvious when the team released oft-injured receiver Antonio Bryant a few days ago.
